Curriculum Highlight: Mission Possible: Energy Trade-Offs by the NEED Project

Mission Possible: Energy Trade-offs is a cooperative learning activity in which intermediate and secondary students evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the energy sources used to generate electricity by developing energy plans for a fictitious country that keeps electricity costs low.  In addition to considering the potential for renewable energy sources, students also consider modernizing coal-fired power plants, and building new coal, nuclear and natural gas power plants.
