Presentation about fracking

I recently attended a talk by Clemson University geologist,  Dr. Larry Murdoch, titled “To Frac or Not to Frac? Risks and Rewards of Natural Gas Production from Shale.”  The talk was intended for the general public and I found the talk to be very informative, especially as NC considers whether or not to allow hydraulic fracturing.  Dr. Murdoch knows a lot about hydraulic  fracturing as he develops “techniques for creating and applying hydraulic fractures for environmental applications.”  A pdf copy of his presentation is available and I think you will find many of the slides useful for classroom applications; the presentation includes cross sectional graphics depicting an aquifer that is undergoing hydraulic  fracturing as well as above ground photos.  I encourage you to check it out!
